Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19, 1946, in Locust Ridge Tenn. to 12 children from a poor family children who would grow up together eventually, learned very early how to get out of her difficulties with her incredibly vibrant imagination. She was writing songs before she learned to write or read. The first time she picked up a guitar was when she was just 8 years old and started singing at a Knoxville Tenn radio station at the age of 11. In the same year, she released her debut album on Gold Band Records an independent small label. Although she became popular in the local scene while she was at high school, her dreams were bigger. She moved to Nashville shortly after her graduation in 1964. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. Porter Wagoner had been looking for a female singer for his show that was syndicated from the beginning. Parton accepted the role in 1966, was signed to RCA Records in 1968, and then the Grand Ole Opry was founded in 1969. She quit Wagoner's act in 1974 when her solo singles such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene oversold her collaborations. Parton following the breakup of their relationship with Wagoner was the one to write"I Will Never Love You and made it to Number. First time, in 1974.
