April Ross
April Ross is one of only a few female beach volleyball players who have won medals in multiple Olympics. Alix Klineman is the newest Olympian and will join her in Tokyo. Ross hopes to win more than her first Olympic medal. At 39, this could be Ross' last chance to take home the gold medal at an Olympics. The athlete is optimistic she can achieve top honors. Ross on NBC Boston, said that if the team plays well or at all they could win a gold. It's also going to be the result of luck. Ross was born on the 22, 1982, in Costa Mesa California. She lived there together with her parents. In Newport Harbor High School, she was a participant in many activities. Her pre-athletic career comprised indoor volleyball, as well as basketball as well as running and track. Although she was a pro at indoor volleyball, it was clear that her performance was above the average. In her own biography, during high school she played volleyball as an outside hitter (middle blocker) as well as a setter (outside blocker). Her achievements were rewarded by her being named 1999 Gatorade's Circle Of Champions National Player of the Year. The 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Month was also received by her due to her volleyball skills. Ross and Klineman have been doing what they do from the year 2017. The reality is that Ross played a significant role in the beach volleyball scene prior to the pair. In fact, she's had the chance to win numerous events, and one was won by an iconic volleyball player. In the period 2007 to 2013 she teamed together with Jennifer Kessy who more recently served as her and Klineman's coach. Ross, the teammate of Kessy's, who took home the title of world champion with Kessy in 2009 was also significant on the an international level. At the 2012 Olympic Games, they won the gold medal. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the group to beat for the gold. Ross Walsh was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's retirement. In 2016, the duo won bronze in the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross was a college athlete with the Trojans of USC prior to her pro career. She played during high school and in before hitting the beach as a professional. Ross's playing time with the Trojans was amazing. In 2000 she was named Pac-10 Freshman and NCAA Freshman Of The Year, and was also an All-American. Additionally, she was a key player in helping the Trojans reach their way to the Final Four. Her personal tragedy was a crushing loss during her sophomore year, but she still repeated her place as an All-American. The two years following her, she took the Trojans up the mountain and won consecutive national titles. Her individual achievements have cemented her as a volleyball legend. She was awarded the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the top female NCAA player. Ross had been an international studies student at USC. Unfortunately, Ross mom Margie never got to see her daughter ascend to the highest levels of beach volleyball fame. Ross lost her mother to breast cancer in the year 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. She continues to cherish her parents who passed away. Margie is a constant source of inspiration for her both on and off the beach.
