
Jessica Michelle Chastain (born March 24, 1977) is an American producer and actress. Her films that are centered around the theme of women are her mainstay. She has received many awards including an Academy Award as well as the Golden Globe Award. Time magazine named her one the 100 most influential individuals around the world in 2012. Chastain was an enthusiastic actor since her early years. She made her performance debut on stage as Shakespeare's Juliet in 1998. After completing her acting studies at the Juilliard School, she was accepted into a talent-holding agreement with television producer John Wells. She was a recurring guest star on several TV shows, and also took on roles in several stage productions. Chastain's debut film was Jolene (2008) when she was 31 years old. In 2011, Chastain achieved her breakthrough by releasing six films including The Tree of Life (2011), Take Shelter (2011) and The Tree of Life (2012). She received Academy Award nominations for playing an aspiring socialite in the period drama The Help (2011) and as a CIA analyst in the action thriller Zero Dark Thirty (2012). More commercial success was seen in the science-fiction films Interstellar (2014) and The Martian (2015), as well as the horror film It Chapter Two (2019). Chastain's strong-willed performances in dramas The Most Valuable Year (2014), Miss Sloane (2016), Molly's Game (2017) and Scenes from a Marriage (2021) were also praised. In the biopic The Eyes of Tammy Faye (1921) she played Tammy Faye Bakker. She won the Academy Award as Best Actress. Tammy Wynette was the miniseries George & Tammy (222). Chastain is the founder of the production firm Freckle Films, which was created to promote the inclusion of diverse film makers. She is an investor in the soccer club Angel City FC. She has a strong voice on mental illness, gender equality and racial equality. Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo (fashion executive) is her husband.
